The Season of Epiphany
“When the song of the Angels is stilled, when the star in the sky is gone,
When the magi and the shepherds have found their way home,
the work of Christmas is begun.” - Jim Strathdee
That was the closing hymn on Epiphany Sunday. We pack and put all our Christmas decorations
away because the Christmas Season is over. But the real work of Christmas has begun.
We begin the work of Christmas knowing that Immanuel, God with us, is among us, and God is
revealed to us in the most unexpected ways. God continues to move among us, healing our
broken hearts, inspiring us to care for those in need, and blessing us.
- Christmas work begins when we recollect the wonderful feeling of gift-giving and
receiving and continue the practice of giving and receiving. - Now that we are no longer in a rush, can we remember the joy of being with family and
friends and gather more often to strengthen relationships? - Even though the decorations have come down, so much beauty surrounds us; take time
to notice. The beauty around us revives our souls if we pause to see.
The miracle of Christmas is for us to see and experience if only we will notice.
May the joy of Christmas always be with us. Amen
