Sacred Spaces
We were in the presence of Jacob's story last Sunday. The story has significant meaning for all of us who are often exhausted from the demands and surprises we face. Jacob is on the run because his brother is out to get him, and he is so tired he cannot keep going anymore. He finds rest, which comes from a miraculous moment when he realizes that the place he is resting is Holy Ground. Jacob says, "Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place."
The miraculous moment is his awareness of God's presence even though God was always with him. Jacob will return to that place because it is sacred to him.
We all need a sacred place in our lives. Do you have one? A place where you can see and feel peace? Have a mental picture of your sacred space in your mind. Remember the sounds, the breeze, and the smell that make that place a special place for you.
When you need rest, travel in your mind's eye to your sacred space. Have a word with God in your sacred space. You are on "Holy Ground," and you will find rest!
We are Standing on Holy Ground,
and I know that there are angels all around.
Let us praise Jesus now,
We are standing in God's presence on Holy Ground.

God bless you!
