How Majestic Is Your Name
Psalm 8:1

The Psalmist sings, “O Lord, Our God, how majestic is your name in all the Earth.” Did he see something spectacular to sing about God’s majesty? He probably did, but there is more to noticing God’s sovereignty around us. Take time to look around and see the beauty of the changing seasons and the vivid colors. It feels good to stand in awe of all the beauty around us and distance ourselves from the chaos propaganda we constantly hear. Protect yourself from the constant barrage of the chaos peddlers who come to us from so many directions.

If we consume too much of the chaos narrative, chaos becomes normal, and we become numb and learn to live with chaos. When we notice the beauty around us, we see God active in the world and resist the temptation to accept chaos as a way of life.

Genesis chapter 1 is a beautiful poem about the good that God sees in the world. I hope you will find time to read it. The phrase “And God saw that it was Good” is spoken four times in the first five days of the creation story, and on the sixth day, “God saw everything that God made, and indeed, it was very good.” Chaos is not normal; good is normal in God’s eyes. When you notice God’s majesty, you tell yourself that God’s good is normal and all else will pass away.

Thank you, God, “For the beauty of the Earth, for the glories of the skies.” Amen

God bless you,
Simon
